TROUBLE SHOOTING
Symptom Possible Cause Corrective Action
Unit runs but delivers little or
no water
Leak in suction hose or piping Tighten suction hoses and use thread sealer.
Clogged suction strainer Clear debris from suction strainer
Air-filter clogged Check, clean or replace filter as required
Water level below pump intake Lower suction hose into water
Pump not primed Fill pump with water before trying to prime
Unit will not start
No fuel Fill engine fuel tank. Refer to engine
operating instructions
Fuel tap in "off" position Turn fuel valve to "on" position
Oil level too low Fill with correct oil per operating instructions
Choke adjusted incorrectly Move choke lever to "CLOSED" unless engine is
warm. Refer to engine operating instructions
Unit starts but runs and
performs poorly
Air Filter clogged Check, clean or replace filter as required
Fuel evaporation in carburetor (vapor lock) due
to high temperatures
Wait a 10 to 20 minutes then re-try the
starting procedure
Temperature to hot or cold for the oil being used Refer to the maintenance section for the correct
oil to be used and replace if required
Spark plug is wet or the spark plug electrode is
dirty, placed inadequately or is faulty
Refer to the maintenance section on how to
remove and inspect
Water level more than maximum lift of 7m Move pump closer to water level and increase
discharge line length if necessary
Choke is still engaged Return the choke to the closed position
Engine or carburetor difficulties Contact YARDWORKS customer service
