AlliedView NMS Overview
The
Allied
View NMS is a comprehensiv
e
network management platform designed to
offer network providers and enterprise
customers powerful tools for the management
of their Allied Telesis products and provisioning
of multiple services in the IP and Ether
net
based access network. With a full suite of
provisioning and monitoring tools, the
Allied
View NMS maximizes the operational
efficiency by providing proactive diagnostics
while minimizing service deployment times
hence shortening the path to rev
enue.
Flexible Management Tools
With extensiv
e management capabilities,
the
Allied

NMS allo
ws the user to manage
thousands of Allied Telesis network elements
from a remote operations center - thus
reducing the need f
or a truck roll to perform
diagnostics or making provisioning changes.Via a
user

iendly graphical user interface, the NMS
will substantially decrease the time required for
deploying and provisioning large networks.
Among the key strengths of the NMS are
netw

Ar
chitecture Overview
The three essential constituents of AlliedView
NMS architecture are back-end (BE) server,
front-end (FE) server and the user client.
The back-end server (BE) performs core,
server-side network facing tasks, such as the
discovery of managed objects, receiving and
processing event and alarm notifications, data
collection,
report generation, and status
polling and northbound interface. All updates
to the relations database takes place through
the BE server.
The front-end server (FE) pro
vides scalability
in terms of the number of clients that can be
supported. High availability of the client can
be achieved by increasing n
umber of FEs that
are connected to BE. FE server performs the
following:
»
Channels all the clients' requests.
»
Generates the user client views through
database read operations using a completely
stateless architecture which helps in providing
the accurate information at all times.
The client acts as the user interface betw
een
the end-user or administr
ator and NMS
server. There are two types of client
interfaces:
»
Java Client.
»
HTML Client.
Network Inventory

In addition,
the
NMS contains inventory of network interfaces,
ports, physical links,VLANs and different device
types.
