Reports from the field have suggested that some paper jams and
circuit board damage is being caused by static build up, possibly
due to incorrect installation or non-use of the paper rack.
In order to prevent static build up it is essential that certain
parts of the printer are properly installed. Moreover, the A/C
outlet must be the 3 prong type and grounded. The paper rack
provides a discharge path for the static charge that accumulates on
the paper.
If the rack is not installed and grounded properly, the
static build up could cause problems.
Page 2 shows the parts that
need to be connected to have a complete ground path for static
build up. Use the part numbers listed below if there is a need for
replacement parts.
The "static ground brushes", which are not shown, are located on
Q;k!nner
side of the "printer cover". They connect to the "paper
through the "rack mounting units", on either side of the
upper case. The "paper rack" is then grounded to the "lower case"
through the "ground wire" at junction "A".
