Thank you for purchasing the RadioShack
Dual-Bay FAST Charger for GMRS/FRS
2-Way Radios. This charger works with
these RadioShack GMRS/FRS radios:
21-1902, 21-1903, 21-1904, and 21-1905.
Your dual-bay fast charger enables you to
charge a pair of GMRS/FRS radios
simultaneously. Rechargeable AA/AAA,
Ni-Cd/Ni-MH batteries are fully charged in
about 2 hours (50–120 minutes).
FEATURES
Charging indicators — the LED indicates
the charging status.
Blinking Green: Charging
Green: Fully Charged
Red: Stand-by
Automatic cut off when batteries are
fully charged, the charger stops
automatically. A safety timer provides extra
protection against overcharging.
Over current protection —constant
current charge in all charging stages.
Auto current selection — automatically
changes the charging current according to
the capacity of the batteries resulting in
quick and efficient charging.
OPERATION
1. Insert the supplied adapter into the
12.8V power jack on the back of the
charger. Then, plug the other end of the
adapter into a standard AC outlet. Ô
2. Select one pair of the supplied adapters
that corresponds with the FRS radio
that you want to charge (21-1902/1903/
1904/1905). Insert the adapter into the
charging bay first, then insert the
corresponding FRS radio into the
charging bay. The green LED blinks to
indicate that the batteries are charging.
Ô
You can use this charger to charge Ni-
Cd and Ni-MH batteries of different
capacities. The charging time depends
on battery capacity. After the batteries
are fully charged, the LED stops
blinking and lights a steady green. The
following chart lists estimated charge
times.Ô

Ô NOTES Ô
Fully discharge Ni-Cd batteries before
charging. Repeated partial discharging and
recharging may shorten battery life. This
does not apply to Ni-MH batteries.
It is normal for batteries to become warm
while charging.
If the LED changes to RED after several
seconds, the radio may not be inserted
firmly.
For batteries with a capacity of less than
600mA, the charging time may be less than
50 minutes and the batteries can be warmer
(than batteries with a capacity greater than
600mA) during charging.
Use only the supplied adapter. Use of other
adapters may damage your charger.
If dead batteries, non-rechargeable
batteries, or batteries installed in the wrong
direction are detected, the LED changes to
red and stops charging. When charging two
radios, if one of the radios is turned on, both
radios enter the slow charging mode and
may not be fully charged after hours of
charging. For the fastest charge, turn both
radios off.
Never attempt to charge any batteries other
than Ni-Cd or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.
Only charge batteries of the same type and
capacity. Do not mix new and old batteries or
batteries of different types or capacities.
Charge batteries in a location that is
between 50°F and 86°F (10°C and 30°C). If
the location is too cold, the batteries cannot
be fully charged. If the location is too warm,
the batteries may be damaged permanently
and lose their ability to charge.
