Amplified Stereo Computer Speakers
Your RadioShack Amplified Stereo Comput-
er Speakers are specially designed for use
with multimedia computer systems. The 3-
inch full-range speakers give you excellent,
wide-range sound. The speakers’ magnetic
shield allows you to place them next to your
PC’s monitor without causing picture distor-
tion.
You can also connect your portable CD play-
er or personal cassette player to the speak-
ers. The speakers are compatible with any
audio source that has a

/

-inch stereo head-
phone or line out jack.
Other features include:
Bass Boost Switch
— lets you adjust the
speakers’ low frequency response to en-
hance the bass sound.
Three Power Sources
— you can power
your speakers using four AA batteries, stan-
dard AC power using an optional AC adapt-
er, or your vehicle’s battery power using an
optional DC adapter.
CONNECTING POWER
Installing Batteries
You can power the system from four AA bat-
teries (not supplied, available at your local
RadioShack store). For the longest life and
best performance, we recommend Ra-
dioShack alkaline batteries.
Cautions:
Use only fresh batteries of the required
size and recommended type.
Do not mix old and new batteries, differ-
ent types of batteries (standard, alka-
line, or rechargeable), or rechargeable
batteries of different capacities.
Follow these steps to install batteries in the
speaker.
1. Press and lift the battery compartment
cover’s tab located on the back of the
right (
R
) speaker.
2. Install four AA batteries as indicated by
the polarity symbols (+ and –) inside the
compartment.
3. Replace the cover.
Note:
If the sound becomes weak or the red
indicator dims, replace the batteries.
Warning:
Dispose of old batteries promptly
and properly. Do not burn or bury them.
Caution:
If you do not plan to use the speak-
ers with batteries for a for a month or more,
remove the batteries. Batteries can leak
chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
Using AC Power
You can power the speakers using an 9V,
800 mA AC adapter and a size M Adapta-
plug™ adapter (neither supplied). Both are
available at your local RadioShack store.
