Adding Your GCC Elite XL to Windows 2000
1. Click on Start. Arrow up to settings. Click on printers.
2. In the “printers” dialog box, double click on “add printer”.
3. The “Add Printer Wizard - Welcome screen” dialog box appears, Click on next.
4. A “Local or Network Printer” dialog box appears. Click on local printer. Uncheck the box next to
“automatically detect and install my plug and play printer”. Then click on next.
a. If connecting via parallel port, click on the appropriate port, and click on Next.
b. If connecting via Ethernet, in the “select the printer port” dialog box, click on the radio
button next to “create a port”. Under “type:”, click on the down arrow, and select either
“standard TCP/IP port or Local Port”. Select Standard TCP/IP Port, Click on Next.
i. The “Welcome to the add standard TCP/IP port wizard” dialog box appears, click
on next.
ii. In the “add standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard” dialog box, enter the IP address
in the “printer name or IP address” box. Click on next.
iii. In the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard “additional port information
required” dialog box appears. Under “device type” next to standard click on the
down arrow (66 ) to select your Ethernet card or select Generic Network Card.
Click on Next.
iv. Click on finish.
5. The “Add Printer Wizard” dialog box appears. Click on “have disk”.
6. In the “install from disk” dialog box under “copy manufacturers files from”, enter the drive letter, and
path to where the print drivers can be found, and click on ok.
a. Or, you can click on browse, locate the folder to where the printer software resides, Click on
the file, click on open, then click on ok.
7. The “Add Printer Wizard” dialog box appears displaying a list of printer descriptions. Click on the
GCC Model Printer you are installing then click on “next”.
8. The Add Printer Wizard dialog box appears prompting you to name your printer, you can enter a new
printer name or you can accept the default name provided. In this dialog box, you can also select if
you want Windows to use this printer as the default printer, make your selection then click on Next.
9. In the Add Printer Wizard Printer, Sharing Dialog box, Click on the radio button if you want to share
the printer. Enter a shared name, and click on next. If you do not want to share the printer, click on
the radio button next to Do Not Share This Printer, and click on next.
10. In the Add Printer Wizard, Print Test Page, click on yes if you would like widows to print a test page
for you, then click on next. If you do not want Windows to print a test page, click on the radio button
next to No, then click on next.
11. Add Printer Wizard, Completing the Add Printer Wizard appears, click on Finish
12. A ‘Digital Signature not found’ dialog box appears, click on ‘YES’ to complete the printer installation.
