Apogee Electronics announces the release of
a new Ensemble Software Installer (December ‘07), available for
download from Apogee’s website immediately:
www.apogeedigital.com/leopard
Versions and Requirements
This installer requires that Mac OS X Leopard v10.5 or Tiger v10.4.11 to be previously installed on your Mac. Also
required is firmware version 1.7.48 or higher to be installed on your Ensemble.
Updating Software and Firmware
Starting with the previous update (Nov07), the Ensemble Updater is used only to update firmware, and will be
named, appropriately enough, the Ensemble Firmware Updater; all software installation and updates are handled by the
Ensemble Software Installer. To remove Apogee software, the Ensemble Uninstaller is included with the Installer.
New Features (as of the Nov07 release)
Compatible with Mac OS X Leopard v10.5 and Tiger v10.4.11.
Software outputs may be assigned to multiple hardware outputs.
• Hardware inputs may be assigned to multiple software inputs.
Resolved Issues (Dec07 release only)
A left
-right inversion occurring under certain circumstances is resolved.
An issue whereby Analog Ouput 2 is not attenuated by the front panel Output encoder is resolved.
Issues remaining to be resolved:
• Settings made in Maestro’s Input and Output routing pages are not saved in non-volatile memory even though
the actual routing hardware routing is saved. A mismatch may occur between displayed and actual routing.
Workaround - Once the desired routing has been configured, save a Maestro config file. To open this
config file at startup, drag it into the OS X dock, right click on the file and choose Open at Login.
• Conversion at 176.4kHz/192kHz is intermittant on certain hardware revisions.
Aggregation of multiple Ensembles is not supported.
After a reset, the HP2 output is muted in rare instances.
Reset Ensemble again to correct the issue.
• Minor latency variations may occur.
• S/PDIF optical status bits preclude use of Ensemble with Mac Pros at 88k2-96kHz sample rates - to be
addressed in an upcoming firmware update.
