To install patches to HP–UX, perform the following steps:
1. Begin the HP–UX software installation process. At HP–UX 9.0x releases, if the system has
one of the drives listed above installed, the following message appears:
“Note: the destination disk type “
disk–drive
was not found in the disk table /etc/disktab.
(Press any key to continue.)”
Press any key. The screen displays the following message:
“If model number: “
disk–drive
”, is incorrect,
and a correct one (one that has an entry in the
/etc/disktab) is known, please enter it now otherwise
press return.”
For 1–GB drives (under 9.01, 9.03, or 9.05), type: MICROP_2112
Return
For 2–GB drives (under 9.05), type DEC_DSP3210S
Return
Notes: The MICROP_2112 or DEC_DSP3210S drives are functionally
equivalent to the drives listed above. By using this entry, you can
complete the software installation process.
2. Let the software installation process complete.
3. Install the appropriate patch using the update procedures. The software patches may be
obtained by requesting the following patches from HP Customer Service. Patches
PHSS_5466 and PHSS_5467 may also be obtained from the Hardware Patch product
B2908AA residing on the HP 9000 Series 700, HP–UX Application Software CD Release
June 1995 (and later releases).

Notes: 4. PHSS_5496 modifies the HP–UX kernel and requires a system reboot. Additionally,
PHSS_5496 corrupts MEMDIAG, so you must also load PHSS_5497 after the system
boots.
5. 2–GB drives are not supported under HP–UX 9.01.
