Resuming from Standby or
Sleep Mode
Your computer automatically enters standby or sleep mode after it has
been idle for a set period of time with no activity. Standby or sleep mode
is a low power state that reduces the amount of electrical power consumed
by the computer.
When your computer enters standby or sleep mode, you must wake the
computer to use it again. Depending on the type of keyboard or mouse
connected to your computer, use one of the following methods to wake
the computer:
■ If you are using a PS/2 mouse or PS/2 keyboard
❏ Press a key on the keyboard
❏ Move the mouse
■ If you are using both a USB mouse and a USB Keyboard, press and
release the power button on the front panel of the computer.

Holding down the power button for 4 seconds or longer will
power off the system, rather than resume from standby, and cause
you to lose unsaved information.
