look at the tank marks, not the jug
marks. They’re slightly different to
allow for the fact that some of the
water gets absorbed by the coffee.
2 Open the filter door by pressing
the release button and insert the
filter holder.
3 Add either a permanent filter or a
paper filter. Add the coffee
(approximately 1 rounded
dessertspoon/7g per cup). Then
close the filter door.
4 Put the jug on the hotplate.
5 Plug in and switch on.
Model CM660 press the
auto/on/off button twice. The
light will come on.
6 CM660: to produce stronger
coffee press the strength control
button.
During operation the strength
control indicator light will glow for
approximately 10 minutes.
7 Don’t remove the jug until brewing
has finished. The hotplate will keep
your coffee hot, but the sooner you
drink it, the better it will taste.
Model CM660 After 2 hours,
power to the hotplate will cease
and the auto/on/off indicator light
will go out.
8 When the jug’s empty, switch off
by pressing the on/off switch
(CM650) or the auto/on/off button
(CM660). Let the machine cool
down before cleaning.
If you haven’t used the machine for
a while, run one lot of water
through it (without coffee) to clean
it out. Fill the tank to the top cup
mark when you do this.
Never put the jug in the
microwave.
to use the automatic timer
(model CM660 only)
1 Set the correct time.
2 Press the automatic timer button
and at the same time adjust the
Hour and Minute buttons to
display the time you want the
coffee maker to come into
operation. Make sure that the
desired AM or PM is selected.
3 Release the automatic timer
button.
4 Press the auto/on/off button once.
The automatic timer light will glow.
When the set brewing time is
reached the coffee maker will
operate, the automatic timer light
will go out and the auto/on/off light
will come on.

Always switch off and unplug
before cleaning.
Never put the machine in water or
let the cord or plug get wet.

Wash, then dry.

Wipe with a damp cloth, then dry.
Don’t use abrasives - they’ll
scratch the plastic.

You’ll know when limescale has
built up because your coffee will
take longer to come through.
When this happens it’s time to
descale.

1 Buy a suitable descaler.
2 Descale the machine.
3 After descaling, run several lots of
water through the machine to
clean it out. Fill the tank to the top
cup mark when you do this.
4 Wash the parts.

Never let the cord hang down over
the worktop edge - a child could
grab it and pull the machine down.
Push excess cord inside the back
of the machine.
Always make sure there is water in
the tank before switching on.
Never use a damaged coffee
maker. Get it checked or repaired:
See ‘service’.
Never put the machine in water or

Watch out for steam and never
touch the hotplate.
This machine is for domestic use
only.
This machine is not intended for
use by young children or infirm
persons without supervision.
Don’t let children play with this

Make sure your electricity supply is
the same as the one shown on the
underside of your machine.
Important (UK) only
The wires in the cord are coloured
as follows:
Green and Yellow = Earth
Blue = Neutral
Brown = Live.

before using for the first
time
1 Remove all packaging.
2 Wash the parts: see ‘care and
cleaning’.
3. Push excess cord inside the back
of the machine.
4. Run two lots of water through the
machine (without coffee) to clean it
out. Fill the tank to the top cup
mark when you do this. See ‘to
make coffee’.

1 Plug into the power supply.
2 Press the hour and minute buttons
until the correct time is shown.
Make sure when selecting the hour
that AM or PM is correctly
selected.
Providing the appliance remains
connected to the power supply the
clock will keep the correct time, if it
is unplugged the clock will flash
12:00.
to make coffee
1 Pour water into the tank. The
water must be between the top
and bottom cup marks. Then close
the lid.
Use cold water. We recommend
using filtered water from a
Kenwood Water Filter as it reduces
limescale. Never use warm or fizzy
water.
