Installation Instructions
Part Number: 10.202.401-404K
Description: COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM, Mk4
Tools Required:
10mm. socket
Ratchet
12” extension
Phillips #2 screwdriver
Dremel type tool w. sanding drum (a half moon file will suffice)
Warning:
This intake system places the engine air intake in a location that is only partially protected. Because of the low position
of the air filter relative to the ground, there is a risk of water ingestion into the engine if the car is run through deep
puddles, etc. Ingestion of a large enough amount of water can severely damage your cars engine. For this reason, we
recommend that this Cold Air Intake System be used with caution, and at your own risk!
Procedure:
1. Remove battery cover
2. Remove battery hold down clamp
3. Remove plastic retainers on top of the battery
4. Disconnect battery terminals (always disconnect ground first)
5. Remove battery
6. Using a 10mm. socket, remove the two bolts holding down the airbox
7. Remove the four bolts holding down battery tray
8. Remove battery tray
9. Using a short Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws used to attach the mass air meter.
10. Disconnect breather hose from airbox
11. Remove airbox
12. Using 10mm. socket, remove the nut holding the ducting tube (nut will be re-used)
13. Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the ducting behind the drivers side headlight
14. Remove the three plastic pushpin connectors on the remaining ducting
15. Remove ducting
16. With a small file or rotary sanding drum, clearance some of the plastic flange at the rear of the headlight to make room for
the massive 3” tube
17. Install air inlet tube
18. Install silicone hose between the inlet tube and the airflow meter and tighten the supplied hose clamps
19. Install the nut on the body stud protuding through the bracket on the air inlet tube
20. Install the air filter from underneath
21. Re-install the battery tray
22. Re install the battery
23. Re-connect the battery leads (always connect ground last)
24. Re-attach the battery hold down
25. Re install the battery top covers and engine cover
26. Install the breather tube connector between air inlet tube and factory breather piping (pinch connectors to clip over nipples
