To obtain a blood sample from
your finger-tip
The OneTouch
®
UltraSmart
meter
requires a very small drop of blood to
perform a test. You may obtain it from a
finger-tip or forearm. Please refer to
your OneTouch
®
UltraSmart
Owner’s
Booklet for complete information
on obtaining a finger-tip or forearm
blood sample.

TWO WAYS TO TEST
1. Replace the regular
sampler cap with the
UltraClear
cap.
2. Touch and hold the
drop of blood to the
top edge of the test
strip until the confir-
mation window is full,
and before the meter
begins to count down.
1. Insert a test strip,
contact bars end
facing up, into the
meter test port.
3. If the confirmation
window does not fill up
completely before the
meter begins to count
down, do not add more
blood to the test strip;
discard the test strip
and retest.
4. Your blood glucose
test result will appear
after the meter counts
down from 5 to 1. Test
results are automatically
stored in the electronic
logbook (memory).
1. Hold the OneTouch
®
UltraSoft
Adjustable
Blood Sampler firmly
against the side of
your finger. Press the
release button.
2.Gently massage the
finger-tip to help obtain
a round drop of blood.
The blood sample
must be at least one
microliter in volume
( actual size).
2.Select a soft, fleshy area
on your forearm that is
free of veins and hair,
and away from bone.
Massage the area to
help increase blood flow.
3.Press and hold the sampler
against the forearm for a
few seconds. Press the
release button.
4.Continue holding the
sampler against the skin
for a few seconds until
the blood drop forms
under the cap. Confirm
that you have at least
one microliter of blood
( actual size).

CODING THE METER AND BASIC SET-UP
3.Compare the code number on
the display with the code
number on the test strip vial.
If the code numbers match,
you may begin testing.
4. If not matching, scroll up or
down with Arrow buttons
until the codes match.
Meter is ready for testing.
To code the meter
1. Insert a test strip, contact
end facing up, into the
meter test port. “OneTouch
UltraSmart” will appear on
the display.
2. The code number will then
appear on the display. After
every 25 tests, you will be
prompted to check the code
number.
Basic Meter Set-up
1. Enter Basic Set-up mode by
pressing and holding down
the Back and OK
buttons at the same time.
Select language and
press OK.

To set date and time, scroll
with arrow key and press
OK when each is correct.
