WARNING:
Please read this entire manual before you install and use your new room heater. Failure to
follow instructions may result in property damage, bodily injury, or even death.
If this unit is not properly installed, a house fire may result.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
Follow the installation directions. This unit can be very hot when burning. Combustible mate-
rials such as firewood, wet clothing, etc. placed too close can catch fire. Adults and especially
children should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures and should stay away
to avoid burns or clothing ignition. Keep young children and animals away when the fireplace
is hot. The chimney must be sound and free of cracks. Before installing your unit, contact the
local building or fire authority and follow their guidelines.
The door must be kept closed during operation to prevent smoke, embers from entering the
room. Burn wood directly on firebricks. Do not use a grate or elevate the fire. At least 14 square
inches (90 sq.cm.) of outside air must be admitted to the room or directly to the unit through a
4 inch (10cm.) diameter pipe. This unit is designed to burn natural wood only. Higher efficiencies
and lower emissions generally result when burning air dried seasoned hardwoods, as com-
pared to softwoods or to green or freshly cut hardwoods. Do not start a fire with chemicals or
fluids such as gasoline, engine oil, etc. Do not burn treated wood, coal, charcoal, coloured
paper, cardboard, solvents or garbage which tend to produce more pollution than wood. Do
not let the unit become hot enough for any part to glow red.
KEEP THE STOVE TOP TEMPERATURE BELOW 700°F (371°C). Attempts to achieve heat output
rates that exceed design specifications can result in steel distortion and damage.
