PROCEDURE
1.
RADIO POLARITY
-
WHEN SER-
VICING THIS RECEIVER, THE
"A"
sures a good low resistance return
path. Two separate and independent
paths are provided to ground.
1. A defective in-warranty radio
must be accompanied by the Custom-
er's Warranty Policy Tag. This tag
must be properly filled in by the
American Motors dealer at the time
of radio purchase. Accept as war-
ranty repairs only those radios with-
in the 12-month warranty period.
The removal or re-installation of
this receiver is customarily per-
formed by the American Motors
dealer and is not covered by this
warranty. Also, the removal of
motor noise, tire static, electrical
interference, faulty installations,
and aerial repairs are not consider-
ed as warranty repairs; and there-
fore, expenses related to such
ser-
.vices should' be handled by the car
dealer.
LEAD MUST BE CONNECTED TO
THE POSITIVE SIDE OF POWER
SOURCE. IF CONNECTED OTHER-
WISE, RECEIVER .WILL NOT OP-
ERATE AND DAMAGE TO COM-
PONENTS MAY RESULT.
4. TO SERVICE PLATED CHASSIS
BOARD
-
To remove the plated
chassis from the radio housing,
un-
solder the plated chassis ground
wire from chassis housing. Release
the chassis board locking spring
and carefully lift chassis board out
of housing. Position the chassis
board vertically with respect to
radio housing for servicing.
2.
POWER SUPPLY REQUIRE-
MENTS
-
It is preferable to use a
storage battery (without a battery
charger) in place of a battery elim-
inator. If a battery eliminator is
used, it must be well filtered and
regulated.
After servicing is performed, re-
install plated chassis board. Make
certain chassis board is properly
placed in the grooves of the chassis
retaining brackets and locked in
position with the chassis
boardlock-
ing spring. Re- solder ground lead.
3. PLATED CHASSIS BOARD DES-
CRIPTION
-
Motorola' s placir
chassis has plating on both sides
o_f
the chassis board. The exposed side
contains the actual circuit connec-
tions while the plating on the com-
ponent side of the chassis board
provides a convenient chassis B-
return for components and circuit
wiring. Plating on the component.
side also provides shielding between
the top and bottom of the unit
similar to a metal chassis
whichin-
corporates hand wiring.
